Mumbai Indians suffered a second defeat in a row after paying a heavy price for their failure in batting and bowling. Gujarat Titans have won 5 out of 7 matches played so far in the tournament and are now in the 2nd position in the points table.

Mumbai Indians stumble in batting:

Chasing a total of 208 runs for victory, Mumbai Indians did not get off to a good start. Mumbai failed to recover as Rohit Sharma (2), Ishan Kishan (12) and Tilak Verma (2) failed.

Cameron Green (33), Suryakumar Yadav (23), and again Nehal Vadhera (40) put up a short fight and reduced the margin of defeat. Young spinner Noor Ahmed took 3 wickets for Titans while Rashid Khan took 2 wickets. Pacer Mohit Sharma also grabbed 2 wickets. As a result, Mumbai was disappointed to score only 152/9 in 20 overs.

The Titans set a big target

Despite a mediocre start, the Gujarat Titans made a huge comeback in the last 10 overs to overwhelm the Mumbai Indians bowlers and post a massive total of 207/6. Abhinav Manohar hits Big sixes in Death Overs: Kannadiga Abhinav Manohar, who helped Gujarat Titans with 55 runs by scoring 42 runs in just 21 balls in Tuesday's match against Mumbai Indians, won the man of the match award. Manohar, who got an opportunity to bat in the death overs, played a significant role in Gujarat Titans crossing the 200 mark by hitting three huge sixes and as many boundaries.

The left-handed opening batsman Ishan Kishan, who struggled to get runs against the swing and spin bowling attack of Gujarat Titans, scored only 12 runs, hitting only 1 four in the 21 balls he faced. Rashid Khan went for a big shot and handed the catch to mid-on fielder Josh Little. This is Rashid Khan's 14th wicket in the IPL 2023 tournament. By this, Royal Challengers Bangalore team bowler Mohammad Siraj (13) has become the top in the purple cap list.
