Cape Town (Feb. 23): India is hoping to enter the final of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup for the second time in a row in the semifinals on Thursday. Will fight against 5 times champion Australia in L. India has not been able to win the title so far despite showing excellent performance for the last 5 years. India, which is looking forward to ending its drought this time, has to lose to the strong Aussies in the final 4 stages.

India was in Group 'B' and got 2nd position with 6 points with 3 wins and 1 loss. Atta Aussies won all 4 matches they played and entered the semis undefeated from Group A'. India has reached the semis for the 3rd time in a row and lost against the Aussies in the finals of the last edition. While India is waiting to avenge that defeat, the Aussies are looking to win the title for the 7th time in a row.

Apart from Smriti Mandhana, Richa Ghosh, and Jemima, India did not get a big contribution to the tournament. The heroine Harmanpreet and Shafali Verma have yet to make a splash. Although Deepti Sharma is handling the all-around responsibility well, she is not getting proper support from Pooja Vastrakar. India has mostly relied on Renukar in the bowling department. But Shikha Pandey, Radha Yadav, and Rajeshwari Gaikquad could not tie down the Aussie batters who have the ability to explode at any moment. If not, victory may be missed for India. Atta Aussies are strong in all departments and are favorites to win the match

Dotballs are India's problem!

Dot balls have been a major problem for India throughout the tournament. In the 4 matches played, India batted in a total of 77.1 overs, out of which 179 balls i.e. in about 30 overs did not score a single run. Captain Harmanpreet herself had admitted after the match against Ireland that the increasing number of dot balls had given the team a headache.

Poor record against Aussies

India has a very poor T20I record against Australia. So far in 30 matches, both teams have faced each other and India has won only 7 matches. 22 were lost and one match was canceled without a result. After March 2021, Australia lost only 2 of the total matches played by all three models combined. It is significant that both those defeats were recorded against India.

Match Start: 6.30 PM
